Steven Halepas, MD, DMD, FACD is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon currently practicing in Miami, FL, USA. He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and Columbia Universities College Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital which consistently ranks in the top 10 best hospitals in the nation in the U.S. News and World Report. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists. and has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He is also the co-author of two Springer books, The History of Maxillofacial Surgery and Platelet Rich Plasma in Medicine.
Elie M. Ferneini, MD, DMD, MHS, MBA, FACS, FACD is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Cheshire, Connecticut, USA and an associate clinical professor at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Ferneini is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University (BS, magna cum laude), Quinnipiac University (MHS, MBA), and University of Connecticut Medical and Dental Schools (DMD, MD). He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Connecticut and then undertook 2 years of general surgery training at the same institution. Dr. Ferneini has a long history of conducting research, resulting in over 70 scientific publications. He has lectured nationally and internationally. His professional interests span hospital-based and office-based maxillofacial surgical procedures, including reconstructive facial surgery, maxillofacial pathology, and cosmetic facial surgery. Dr. Ferneini is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is on the editorial boards of several leading journals and is currently the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. He is co-editor of the Springer books: Dental Science for the Medical Professional, The History of Maxillofacial Surgery, Platelet Rich Plasma in Medicine, Applied Head and Neck Anatomy for the Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, Office-based Maxillofacial Surgical Procedures, Evidence-Based Oral Surgery, Perioperative Assessment of the Maxillofacial Surgery Patient: Problem-Based Patient Management, and Complications in Maxillofacial Cosmetic Surgery as well as the Elsevier books: Head, Neck, and Orofacial Infections, and Coagulopathy, an Issue of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America.
